Nick Medici, IFBB Pro

DATE OF BIRTH: September 21, 1990 in Bayside Queens, New York
CURRENT RESIDENCE: Bayville, New York
HEIGHT: 5'9" (175 cm)
CONTEST WEIGHT: 198 lbs (90 kg)
OFF SEASON WEIGHT: 235 lbs (107 kg)

I began bodybuilding at 12 years old. I never did the things that most kids my age were doing, like going out, partying, or even hanging out with friends for that matter. I was always very family oriented, and focused on bodybuilding. I am fortunate that my father was a national level bodybuilder in the 80's, so he showed me how to train, and has been my training partner and mentor my whole life. As a teenager, I would come home from school, and do my homework. Then, when my dad got home from work, we would go to the gym six days a week. When I wasn’t at school or in the gym, I was studying everything about bodybuilding, reading magazines and books front to back.

I competed very early at 15 years of age, and I got even more hooked. I began to dream of one day becoming an IFBB pro bodybuilder. Then I met IFBB Pro, and 3X "212 Olympia Champion" Kevin English, who took me under his wing when I was 18. Our first show together was the 2009 NPC Eastern USA, where I won the Teenage Overall, and also the Novice Light-Heavyweight and Overall titles at the age of 19 years old. It felt amazing to totally clean up like that. Kevin and I then began getting ready for the Teenage Nationals where I won the Light-Heavy Class and Overall Titles. It was that day that I first said to myself, "I think one day I can become a professional bodybuilder."

From then until now, that is all I have worked for and put my mind to. I lost friends and people who didn’t understand the lifestyle I lived because I would always stay home and never go out or socialize much. On my 21st birthday I was in the gym and cooking my meals for the next day when most people would be out taking advantage of being old enough to drink. I can’t say that I regret it in any way, because my dream finally came true. Looking back on my journey and seeing it all pay off, is more satisfying to me than anything imaginable. Motivating other people and helping the younger generation, is one of my main goals as a bodybuilder. Being an inspiration for others to stay on the right path and keep chasing their goals is a victory in itself for me.
