One thing that bothers me a lot, and I see it all the time, is when young bodybuilders start to complicate their programs with techniques and philosophy that is far too advanced for them. As a young bodybuilder, you have to realize that the absolute number one way to gain maximum muscle mass in the shortest possible time is to train using progressive overload.

Taking it to Another Level

7/5/2017 2:10 PM

So I have been working at MUTANT headquarters for two and a half years now. It's been a great time so far. A lot of really big projects and I've been lucky to see a lot of the world while getting paid to travel. Fun times. However, it's time to take it up a notch, and take MUTANT to the next level in the business...

Keep Your Appetite Up

6/15/2017 2:17 PM

I'll be honest, I don't really like eating. Don't get me wrong, I love SOCIAL eating...like going out for dinner with the girlfriend, or enjoying a post workout feast with some of the guys from the gym. Of course there are those times I even get to enjoy my Mom's cooking when I go home to visit. However, I have never had a big appetite for a guy my size, and eating for bodybuilding has always been a challenge. As I grew over the years, and my body required more calories in order to recover from the progressively heavier workloads, I found it harder and harder to get the calories in to support my bodyweight.

Ron's Quad Tendon Rupture

11/18/2016 4:04 PM

When faced with a challenge, or a crisis, sometimes we have to stop and think about what we want to do. Weigh the options, and then make a choice. Other times, our brains almost skip that step completely. We automatically and immediately chose a path.

I recently took the longest break from training that I've taken in a while, 3 weeks totally off training. The last time I took that long away was in 2003. I've had a week off a couple times a year, and the odd 4-5 day stretch when I've been sick or had a minor tweak, but no 3 week breaks for a LONG time.

I see it all the time, people teaming up to train, and I can tell that it's not a good fit. One guy wants to talk to girls, while the other guy is waiting to do a set. Or one person cancels or shows up super late all the time. It's hard enough to meet up for a workout with our busy lifestyles, never mind committing to actually being partners with someone. In fact, I've only had consistent partners for about 8 total years out of the 26 years I've been training seriously. I now prefer to train alone most of the time for various reasons, but that makes teaming up for the occasional session a lot of fun.

How to Use MCT Oil

6/29/2016 11:52 AM

MCT oil has experienced a return to popularity as of late. It was huge in the 80s and early 90s, then almost became a relic of bodybuilding lore. However, it is now a very popular staple in a lot of top pros diets, both on and off season. Because of this, we get a lot of questions about our MUTANT MCT product. Both what it is, and what it's for.

How to Train with FOCUS

6/13/2016 12:17 AM

I see a lot of it in gyms. It's not new...it's been there the entire time I've been around. It was there before me, and it will be there long after I'm no longer able to train (which is code for when I'm dead). I'm talking about people training with a lack of focus.

So you want to use a pre-workout, but you're torn between all the different types and brands. Why do some come in a large jug with a full size scoop, while others are in a concentrated dose with a small scoop, and small jar? Good question. The best way for me to explain it, is to use MUTANT's two different pre-workout formulas as examples. MUTANT MAYHEM and MUTANT MADNESS.

What kind of protein powder should I invest in?

This is one of the most common questions I get about supplements. There are so many different blends and formulas of whey protein, that people get a bit carried away and make it far more complicated than they need to. At the end of the day, there is a very simple answer based on a few criteria that I use to try and help people make the right decision.
